This is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The RSPB owns over 1500 acres of land nearby where bird watchers will find some rare birds like lapwings, snipe and peregrin
falcons as well as more common species like mallard ducks, teal, widgeon and swans.
There are plenty
of cycle paths, some very good golf courses and walkers will find the nearby public paths take them within a wide circle through
the Somerset Levels back to Stoke St. Gregory and North Curry. Coarse fishing on the nearby river Parrett and the
Tone.
We have an excellent village shop as well as several pubs nearby
where you can enjoy the local dishes and beers.
This is also
a paradise for wildlife photographers. Otters are making a strong comeback and water voles have been spotted recently.
The coasts are
just 35 - 45 minutes by car. You can choose to go to Minehead on the Somerset coast or to Lyme
Regis in Dorset. Both are attractive coastal towns offering watersports facilities such as
sailing and windsurfing as well as a wide range of seafood restaurants.
Exmoor is approximately a 50 minute
drive. Here you can walk through snowdrop valley or look out for the Exmoor ponies.
The nearest large town
is Taunton - about 20 minutes by car - where you will find the major supermarkets as well as a pedestrian area accommodating
local shops and restaurants. There are art and antiques centres as well as a local glass blower offering a wide range of decorative
vases and bowls.
